    What Is It?

    Created to empower and inspire millennial women of color, the BrownGirlsLove brand (powered by the editors of LoveBrownSugar) will kick 2018 off with a special POWER Day on Saturday, January 6th. With the goal of providing tools and inspiration to young female professionals, BrownGirlsLove POWER Day provides an exclusive group of movers & shakers the opportunity to go above and beyond for the new year!


    The day conference features a combination of workshops and panel discussions about branding, finance, entrepreneurship, and self-care from young and powerful women who have mastered the art of building a brand.

Brown is a New York native and the founder of fast-growing style & beauty destination LoveBrownSugar.com, mommy destination BabyBrownSugar.com and digital empowerment community BrownGirlsLove. Recognized everywhere from the New York Times to StyleWatch as a top lifestyle expert, Christina curates platforms for multicultural women with an emphasis on self-empowerment. She founded BrownGirlsLove after seeing a need to promote positive images of millennial women of color, and to inspire them through personal branding and entrepreneurship.

    Jessica Franklin

    Digital Influencer, HeyGorJess

    Jessica Franklin is a New Jersey native, and the lifestyle blogger behind Heygorjess. After graduating from Rutgers Business School, going on to land a full time job at a prominent fashion company was everything she thought she wanted. After two years of juggling work and her passion in blogging, Jessica was faced with her red or blue pill moment. The only thing she feared more than failing was the thought of not living out her purpose, so she took a leap of faith and started blogging full time. Jessica is a firm believer that living your dreams is not a cliche. It is a reality within reach, if only we're daring enough to go for it.

    NYC native and Haitian raised, Gracie J is the celebrity nail artist and curator behind The Editorial Nail. Gracie's work has been featured in prominent publications such as, Essence, Allure, V Magazine, Nylon, and Paper Magazine just to name a few, with digital features on Refinery 29, Buzzfeed and more. She recently landed the role as Key Nail Artist for hit TNT television series "CLAWS" which took the nail art world by storm, working closely with celebs like Niecy Nash and Karruche Tran. At 27, she is full time self-employed while building her brand and creating partnerships with brands like Nickelodeon, Coveteur, Buzzfeed and KISS.

    Nicaila Okome

    Digital Influencer, Side Hustle Pro

    Nicaila Okome is the Host of Side Hustle Pro, the first and only podcast to spotlight bold, black women entrepreneurs who have scaled from side hustle to full time entrepreneurs. Named to the exclusive Bold Women list by Apple Podcasts, Side Hustle Pro has generated over half a million downloads in a year and amassed a loyal community of over 47,000 aspiring entrepreneurs.     Dreena Whitfield is the principle of WhitPR, a New Jersey based boutique strategic communications firm. Whitfield is the former Press Secretary to Cory Booker during his tenure as Mayor of the City of Newark. With over a decade of experience, Whitfield has a proven ability to spot opportunities for clients to grow their brand recognition in saturated markets that aligns with their overall objective. Whitfield earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mass Communications from Lincoln University, and her Masters Degree in Strategic Communications from Seton Hall University.

    Melanie White

    Founder, Melanie Marie

    Serial Entrepreneur. Mentor. Philanthropist. Mother. Just a few words that describe Melanie White. Hailing from Yonkers, NY Melanie is best known for her custom jewelry business Melanie Marie. She launched her first business in 2009 and since, her pieces have been worn by dozens of celebrities, featured in blogs and major magazines worldwide. In 2013, she started a youth mentorship program - Melanie Marie Gems & Jewels - to promote the arts for young women.     Kim Roxie’s passion is enhancing women by building their self-esteem, making them feel good, and helping them reveal their natural beauty.
